The Department of International Studies, Political Science and History in collaboration with CAPS organised a session on APA Formatting style for first year HEP on 31st August 2021.The session was attended by 84 students and the session was handled by Chitresh Shrivastva.
The session started with covering the significance of citations. It was told that citations serve as fact checking tools, help us become better writers and researchers, help build credibility, give us an opportunity to show off our scientific knowledge, and help verify our work. We were familiarized with the APA citation style, the format being: last name, middle name, first name, year, title, volume, issue, page numbers, and publisher name. In-text citations are the references that are given within the body of work. Their format being, (family name, year). The difference between work cited, bibliography and references were also told. Bibliography means listing out all the sources, whether or not they have been included in your work, work cited follows the MLA format, and references follow the APA format. The session was very engaging, something that was ensured through various activities. Student participation was encouraged. Overall, it was a very productive session.
